To mark an item done, but have its duration adjusted to fill the gap from the end time of the previous done item in your schedule, choose the Done & Fill Gap command (from the Advanced Timekeeping submenu of the Edit menu, or press Shift+Spacebar) rather than the Done! command.
If the item you are operating upon is the item that you have done most recently, the ending time will be adjusted to be the current time of day.
This command otherwise works identically to the
Done! command.
(Tip: If you would typically prefer this behaviour
over the Done behaviour, you can make this the default
for whenever you choose the Done command by checking
the Done
Command Fills Gap checkbox in Other Settings).
