Record Failed Attempt (pro mode only)
Use the Record Failed Attempt command to leave a
record in your schedule when you have tried to get
something done but failed to complete it. Here's
how:
- Highlight the item on your schedule (as the command
will operate on the highlighted item, not the one
most recently Started).
- Once you realize you won't be able to complete
the task this time (for instance, you phoned and
had to leave a message), choose the Record Failed
Attempt command (from the Advanced Timekeeping
submenu of the Edit menu, or press F6).
- TimeTo™ adds "attempt:" to the beginning
of the item's title and marks the item as done
(and if the item had been Started, records the
elapsed time in the item), then puts a duplicate
undone item into your schedule (if the item had
not been Started, the duplicate item has the same
duration as the original; if the item had been
Started, the duplicate item has the original Duration
minus the time spent on the attempt ... if there
is no time left TimeTo™ assigns a Duration of one
minute).
Note: If the item had been Started,
then the Duration of the duplicated item is reduced
by the duration of the Done item (unless this would
result in the Duration being less than one minute,
in which case the Duration is set to one minute).
Note: If the item is a recurring item, TimeTo duplicates
just the one instance of the recurring item.
Note: If you have Hide
Done Items enabled (in Other
Settings or from the View Menu), you won't be able
to see the attempted item (since it is a Done item)
even though it is there; you will be able to see
it when you disable the Hide Done Items setting
again.
Tip: If you've been interrupted and intend to
continue with the task immediately after the interruption,
you may wish to use the Interrupt command
instead.
