Avant l’atelier, j’avais posé une question par courriel concernant les activités de glisser-déposer pour connaître la façon de les rendre accessibles. Pouvez-vous répondre? Merci.
Hi Françoise. Thank you for your question. Indeed, the key to making a drag-and-drop accessible, is to use language that avoids relying on the audience member being able to discern left from right, as well as not relying on them having to use a mouse. How do we do this? Easy: we describe the instructions in a way that the two destinations are identified in multiple ways (i.e. not just by them being on the left and right)… and we also provide them a way to use the keyboard to sort the items into the two groups (for example, left arrow and right arrow as an alternative to using the mouse to drag the items). An of course, we also use plain language and colours that are sufficiently contrasted.
