DAVIDBERMAN.COM NOW SPEECH-ENABLED… YOUR SITE COULD BE NEXT!

Our Web site is now speech-enabled: you can download the complimentary Browsealoud browser plug-in and have the text on our Web pages read aloud. Visitors can listen to text being spoken as their cursor moves over it. This aids navigation for those with:
– visual impairments
– low literacy or reading skills
– English not their first language, or
– dyslexia

A considerable section of the population has difficulty reading printed or on-screen text. Speech-enabling electronic text is a proven means of improving comprehension and attracting a broader audience to your Web site.

Click https://davidberman.com/design/browsealoud.php and download your Browsealoud reader, so you can hear our site, as well as many other popular sites including Google, MSN, and Yahoo.

David Berman Communications is the only Browsealoud agent in Ottawa, and one of three in Canada. Please contact us if you’d like people to hear your site too. Setup is effortless at your end, and creates no additional programming or maintenance.

SEMINAR: “ACCESSIBILITY: LIBERATE YOUR WEB SITE”, OTTAWA, ONTARIO, OCTOBER 20, 2005

DAVID’S SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE WEB SITES: HABIT #5

Web sites are uncommonly complex projects, requiring “uncommon sense”. Here is the fifth of David’s seven habits to help your Web presence fulfill its promise…

“5. Communicate consistently. We like to think of ourselves as creatures who process each piece of information that arrives based on logic and relevance. Instead, it is our nature to retain and more easily trust those statements we have simply been exposed to most often.

This tendency to trust things we’ve seen often is why advertising, whether for federal elections or global cola supremacy is, for the most part, about repeating a name over and over and over and over … and as consistently as possible.

We humans love the familiar, so learn a lesson from the branding experts: whether it’s your core benefit statement or the persistent navigation on your Web site, repeat your messages incessantly, and present them in a visually consistent fashion. The more often your audience gets the same message, the more comfortable, trustworthy, and authoritative it becomes. It’s a powerful technique, so please choose your message wisely.”

Next newsletter: Habit #6. Learn all seven habits and David’s entire methodology, at our upcoming seminar “Successful Management of Web Site Projects” ( https://davidberman.com/seminars/websuccess.php )
